Pearl Jam Comment

Just been listening to the new album, and getting into it. I saw this review in the paper the other day:

http://www.smh.com.au/news/music/pearl-jam-aim-their-guitars-at-the-war/2006/05/02/1146335733822.html

It certainly isn't surprising that it is an anti war album. When they were last on tour in Australia, 2003, it was in the lead up to the Iraq invasion and they certainly took shots at George W. Even their last album had several anti George songs ie Bu$hleaguer.

Each album sells less than the previous one. This probably will continue but as the band says, they are trying to weed out the people who aren't true fans....

Things Falling Apart

Over the last couple of years I've spent time learning the strict discipline of art. Thus now I know a lot of the rules and technically proficient with them, its time to have some fun.

This drawing is rather large - about 1x1.5m. I'd do a drawing in charcoal, rub parts of it out, rotate it and repeat. Did this about a dozen times and the texture/image built up until this.

It's probably more a direction I want to head in, letting things fall apart as I find the images have more energy and 'life' to them. And for the record, this was done with my right hand (I'm left handed).

With Housemates Like These ...

My housemate has some wonderful birds. This is one of them, a parrot (similar to those ones in 'The Wild Birds of Telegraph Hill'). Can be a little noisy at times but it really cool.
