The Big Scan of 2005
Been a little quite on the blog for the last couple of weeks. Still unpacking and getting things sorted. I also have a little bit of a phobia about the house burning down one day and losing all photos and artworks (about 80% of my photos I have made digital and have back ups at various locations around the city).
However, a lot of my early art, pre-2000, I've never made digital copies (ie scanned into a computer) as my old scanner was too slow and I didn't have the time. Recently picked up a new scanner which is much faster and given now I have a DVD burner, storage is less of a problem. I thought I would only have about 20-30 drawings to scan. As I was unpacking, I kept finding old drawings and sketches. Thus 30 became 100+.
Most of my stuff is at least twice as big as my scanner, so have to scan in pieces and put together in photoshop (ie takes time - largest one was 20 scans that had to be 'seamed' together and certainly was pushing my computer). A couple of weeks later and I'm done.... well not quite, just feed up with doing it and now have digital copies of 85% of my art - that I know of.
One piece I found was this colouring in competition that I actually won for the 1987 Lismore Public School Family Fun Night - I was 9 years old at the time. My prize was a He-man and the Masters of the Universe Popup Board Game (remember how Pop-up books were all the rage at one time ... now if it isn't Playstation, forget it)
