Day 59 - Prague Castle
Today decided to head out to Prague Castle seeing that I didn't make it there yesterday. As with all major tourist attractions in every city, you have to run what I refer to as the 'Gauntlet of Crap'. You always have street vendors selling kitch souvieners. I'm amazed that they are in business as I hardly ever see anyone buying anything. It is a bit of a shame cause there are some nice art works that they try to pass off as 'originals' but then the next vendor down has the same one.
This picture here shows the castle in the background with the St Vitus Cathedral spires inside the castle grounds.
This is the front entrance to St Vitus and was an interesting gothic style church.
On balance I was disappointed with Prague castle. Don't get me wrong, St Vitus was great but the rest of the grounds was in this horrible style of architecture and poorly laid out. The rest of the place was just 'touristy' with 'toy museums' and other over priced 'attractions'.
Below is a picture of St Vitus and infront of it is the style of architecture of all the buildings surrounding the cathedral. Note the orange colour in the foreground building. On each side of the 'quadrangle' facing, was a different colour - purple, brown, orange and green - it was terrible!
Maybe I was spoilt with the walk I did yesterday down south but thought that was far more interesting and enjoyable.
