Home of Shopping

I hate shopping at the best of times. For the last month or so I've been wanting to get a jacket as the zipper in the one I've been using broke ages ago in about 3 different places. I thought I would get a nice leather one in Rome and almost did but wasn't sure how it would hold up in colder climates.

So I thought I'd hold off for a bit longer and came close in Bratislava, Hungary and Poland to buying something (by 'buying' I mean actually walking into a shop to have a look). Thought I would hold off til Prague. Almost wasn't going to and procrasintate some more but heading back into Western Europe, prices will get stupid again.

Across the road from the hostel is a department store / complex so went for a look. Clothes are just dirt cheap so for all the female shoppers out there, Prague is for you! In the end I got a reasonable jacket for 1000crowns (~$40US) until the lady pulled out a calculator. I thought great, here we go, hidden taxes and charges. She was actually working out 50% off so it ended up costing 500crowns (~$20US).

I'd also got sick of using very 'limited' drawing materials so checked out a stationary shop. I couldn't believe it when they had a good selection of pens that I normally find in speciality stores or have to import from Japan or the US. Also cheap, but I thought it was amusing that my 'art supplies' almost cost as much as my new jacket.
