Sketches V
Some sketches from the last couple of days while hanging around the common room and waiting for my camera battery to charge. First up takes a little bit of a departure point from the interior of a gothic church. Almost did my head in trying to get the vaulted roof and ceiling to work and in the end turned it into a large indoor exhibition hall.
This is was intended to be like a type of parliament building but turned out a little too 'bubbly'. Most sketches of buildings to date I've tried to avoid 'futuristic' designs as they are just too easy.
Now this one was completely out of left field. I thought I would do a sketch for a French dude at the hostel who has been very complimentary on some of my other sketches. So I asked him for a topic thinking he would go 'Pretty Girls' or something. Right away the response was 'Napoleon' (Rob you are right, the French are a philosophical lot).
I thought that was interesting but very 'French'. So this was completely off the top of my head and I couldn't for the life of me remember how to draw his hat - it kept turning out like a sun-bear-row or a small ship. In the end I thought I'd make a joke out of it. Definately interested now to see how to draw it.
Also thought about having random 'challenges' for people to post a comment here on the blog for something to draw - can be anything - architecture, cars, flowers, people etc. Can be anything ... who will make the first suggestion?
